Gazpacho or salad soup
Gazpacho is one of the most famous Spanish dishes. It is a cold soup, sometimes called a salad soup, and is mostly consumed in the summer months, because it is rich in vitamins and has an invigorating effect.
Gazpacho is a cold raw vegetable soup originating in southern Spain, the region Andalucia. Gazpacho is widely consumed in Spanish cuisine, as well as in the neighboring country, Portugal, where it is known as Gaspacho.
Initially the soup was made with bread, olive oil and garlic, mixed with a liquid such as water or vinegar. Various vegetables and almonds have been added throughout history. This soup has evolved into different genres, the most popular worldwide being that of a soup, which is a base of vegetables or fruits or both, and which serve cold.
In some regions of Spain Gazpacho is often heated and Spanish cookbooks classify gazpacho as a salad.
The main ingredients are tomatoes, peppers, onions, cucumbers, olive oil, garlic, and usually breadcrumbs or croutons. Gazpacho is for the most part consumed during the summer months, due to its refreshing qualities and serving temperature.
Among the benefits offered by Gazpacho are: the content of fiber and antioxidants, as well as the abundance of vitamins C, A and E. It also contains a number of minerals, such as phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron. Because it contains garlic, it has a vasodilating effect, and tomatoes produce isotonic effects that help the body regulate the level of potassium and salt.
So, if you want to follow a healthy diet, do not miss the opportunity to try this historic culinary delight.

Making gazpacho is a super easy thing. Simply process the ingredients in a food processor until they are suitable for your preferences. If you like a more thoughtful gazpacho, go for it. I prefer a smoother bowl.
The key to a good gazpacho, in addition to choosing the ingredients, is to let the gazpacho cool overnight, or at least a few hours. Chilling allows the flavors to mix and the whole thing to mix a little.
Garnish with fresh herbs, pieces of tomatoes and mangoes, fresh hot peppers, olive oil, sure, crispy croutons or pieces of torn bread and even a few drops of chili flakes. Go!

Homefresh & # 8211 home cooking reinvented in a series of recipe books
Being in the period when consumerism is considered the disease of the century (or at least it was before the pandemic), the need to reinvent ourselves is mandatory in order not to fall into this trap. It is with this mission that Homefresh appeared on the market, for those who want to eat good and healthy, cooking at home.
Who is Homefresh and why is home cooking reinvented?
The concept behind Homefresh was as simple as possible and within everyone's reach, especially for those who are always pressed for time, with a completely different approach. Thus, their service was based on the purchase, preparation and proportion of ingredients, according to the recipe that accompanied the order. Basically, you had to choose one of their menus for which you received all the necessary ingredients, ready to be cooked in a short time.
The recipes were inspired by different cuisines of the world, adapted to all eating styles, including vegetarian and vegan. Although the concept is very sustainable and creative, and customers reacted very positively, in 2019, the founders came to the conclusion that the Romanian market is not ready for such an approach. Thus, the best decision was to stop the Homefresh activity, instead of compromising the values they promoted.
Homefresh reinvented in a series of books
Fortunately, however, being another reinvention, recently, Homefresh managed to gather all their recipes, tested and improved over time, in 2 volumes of books.
The first book contains 50 of the most appreciated recipes by Homefresh customers and is friendly with all eating styles. The book takes us through various countries and culinary cultures around the world, and its contents include 25 meat recipes, 11 vegetarian recipes and 14 vegan recipes. They have the most diverse flavors and nutritional values, so they can be tried by those who follow diets or have a vegan or vegetarian eating style.
Beyond the first book, the authors promise us other thematic volumes on various recipes that were part of the Homefresh kitchen. In this sense, they have already announced volume two, which is available for pre-order on their website.
Homefresh in the kitchen FoodCrew
The FoodCrew team has been following Homefresh since its launch, and now we have the opportunity to browse the first volume of recipes in our kitchen and cook. After multiple debates between our team members on the recipe to try for the first time, we decided that the Brazilian chicken with coconut milk will be to everyone's taste.
Said and done, we made our inventory through the pantry, the inventory through the spice box and we started to purchase the items we were missing. We found chicken breast, we found coconut milk, and in terms of spices we walked a little more, even through the second and third supermarket, after star anise. In the absence of star anise, we researched and bought some alternative items, such as fennel, tarragon and cumin powder. We also had an affair with cayenne pepper, but it was easier for us because from the start, the Homefresh chefs recommended chili powder as the equivalent we already had.
I got home, mixed the first spices in a bowl and seasoned the chicken breast. Until the meat penetrated, we flipped through the book, learned the steps by heart, and decided how we would cook together in the kitchen. Later, we got to work: some fried the meat, others took care of the rice, and in the end we made the sauce together.
Homefresh for you
We show you the final dish and we hope we made you want to taste it, because the smell is simply insane. The smell made us think of the eastern countries and made us want to travel, so we will open the book soon and choose other recipes with international specifics.
For you we have a proposal: if you feel like it or you are hungry after reading our article, choose the first volume from Homefresh and start cooking. We have extended its benefits to you # foodcrew15, and now he brings you a 15% discount on the purchase of the first volume on the site. Or you can opt for both volumes in a special price package, with a 20 lei discount and free shipping anywhere in the country.
If you already have the book and want to discover other recipes that may not have been on the menu at Homefresh, but remain on the same topic, then we reveal something else. Oana Pâslaru, one of the co-founders, recently launched Gastron & # 8211 a culinary blog with recipes and gastronomic advice. We have already subscribed and plan to cook some recipes.
If you cook from the book, tag us on Facebook or Instagram, and we promise to make you the star dishes on the FoodCrew and Homefresh profiles.
